There
are many ways to get involved with
our local chapter. Short-term,
long-term - whatever suits your
schedule and your preferences! We
need and value your contributions.
First and foremost, we hope you will
join the chapter. There are many
benefits of
chapter membership:
-
Interesting, relevant, and
interactive programs that will
help you stay up-to-date in the
field of Performance Improvement
-
Opportunities to network with
professionals in the field of
Performance Improvement
-
Opportunities to learn from
experts and peers
-
Free or very
low cost for attending programs
and workshops
-
Job postings
And
there are more opportunities:
Board
Membership
- Diverse views and
perspectives bring value to our
members and our programs.
- Approximately half of the
Board is replaced each year.
- Board members serve two-year
terms.
- Each November, we request
nominations from our members for
the positions that we are
filling for the upcoming year.
- If you are interested in
serving in one of the positions,
don’t be shy - nominate
yourself! Perhaps you’ll be
elected and serve on our board
next year!
- Go to the
Board of Directors page for
more information about the
requirements for this job.
Web Site
Committee
- In order to keep our web
site an inviting place to visit,
it needs continuous updating.
- There are several
opportunities on the web site
committee:
- Technical Expertise. If
you have expertise in
FrontPage, Dreamweaver, or
web development and
maintenance, in general, we
need help with creating new
pages and updating existing
pages.
- Writer. If you are a
writer and would like to
write content for the web,
we need your experience to
create interesting,
appealing content.
- Learner. If you are
interested in learning more
about web development and
maintenance, this is an
opportunity for you to do
just that!
- Contributor to “What’s
New”, “Toolbox”, or “Best
Of”. If you have something
interesting to share with
our ISPI community, submit a
short written article
describing it. It could be
something you’ve learned, a
tool you found useful, some
interesting upcoming event,
or other news that would be
of interest to our local
ISPI community.
Program Planning
- Planning a program can be an
exciting, interesting
experience.
- You can commit to planning
just one.
- Pick one of the topics on
the list of programs and contact
one of the program coordinators
and tell them you’d like to work
on that program.
- Program planning involves:
- Managing one program.
You don’t have to present
it, unless you have
expertise in that topic and
you want to present.
- Further defining the
topic, that is, more detail
on program focus.
- Getting a credible
person to present the topic.
- Working with a Program
Coordinator to arrange
logistics (place, time).
- Introducing the
presenter at the program
meeting, if you wish to do
so.
Membership
Development
- Tell your co-workers,
friends and acquaintances who
are in the performance
improvement field about our
programs and our organizations!
- Forward names and contact
information (e-mail preferred)
of interested professionals to membership@stl-ispi.org
- Their names will be added to
the distribution list and they
will be provided information
about programs and membership.
Other
Opportunities
- From time to time, other
opportunities present. When they
do, we will post a message to
our distribution list.
- If you see something that
you think would be valuable to
our members and our chapter, let
a
board member know. The
Board will consider your
suggestion. Who knows? It may be
the latest great idea.
